Yesterday. It's very early for swallowtails, but this is actually the second that I'd seen last week. While I was counting birds last weekend, I had a beautiful Tiger Swallowtail in the garden. Of course, by the time I went to get my camera, it was gone.
The warming climate is making all kinds of animals change their habits - including butterflies. I don't remember ever seeing swallowtails quite this early.
I see them less often here than some of the other swallowtails, like Pipevine, Tiger, and Giant, so I was more than a little surprised to find this one. In February!
Gorgeous, Dorothy. Did you take these today?

DeleteHow lucky for you to have butterflies already! We are still a month away from seeing any. Beautiful captures!

DeleteI have only rarely seen this beautiful butterfly in our garden. Great photos!
