Mine has gotten virtually no care and no supplemental water this year, but, for whatever reason, it is gloriously blooming this fall. The hummingbirds love it!
That's what I need to get. I mistakenly bought a Major Wheeler honeysuckle and it's pathetic. I see they are Zone 4 to 8, so perhaps it's just too hot here. I didn't realize. I think I'll have to rip it out and get one of these to replace it.
Perhaps read all the negative comments about this plant. I have no “dog in the fight” but this link was on a Florida FB page and most were damning this plant as invasive and how it takes over everything, knocking down fences....Just an FYI!
Yours looks soooo good!! I love the cape honeysuckle...but really suffering here this year with my neglect.

DeleteThe flowers are seem like a hotter version of the coral flowers on Trumpet Honeysuckle.
ReplyDeleteMany of our autumn blooms are very orange and trumpet-shaped, mostly, I think, to attract those migrating hummers.

ReplyDeleteThe Cape honeysuckle definitely thrives in our climate. You just have to be sure to give it plenty of room because it will get big!
