It does bear a similar resemblance, doesn't it? But as far as I can determine they are not closely related. Other names for Cat's Whiskers include Java Tea and Devil Flower. It is from the family Lamiacaeae and its scientific name is Orthosiphon aristatus.
Lovely photo! My Cat's Whiskers didn't make it through last winter and I never got around to getting a replacement this year. I will definitely have to get a new one in the spring. We're putting a new island bed in over the winter, so it will have somewhere to go :-)

DeleteIt has such a nice airy look, does it spread by runners like mint? I looked it up, it has benefits for hypertension.
