In this country, Rhodophiala bifida thrives from USDA hardiness zone 7A southward. I think you are much farther north than that, Helene, so it probably would not work for you, but no doubt you have something similar there. It's a good plant for our gardens particularly because it is very forgiving of climate and soil and it is very drought-tolerant.
Mine bloomed the same days as yours.. I got mine from the event at Arbor Gate in 2010.. I would of missed the blooms if I did not stop and water my bulb section last week.
I think that the heat really made them fade fast! I was expecting a longer bloom time line like how long our Amaryllis lasts..
Mine that bloomed first only lasted about three days and then began to fade. I have some others of a darker shade that have started blooming this week. I'll be interested to see how long they last. Of course, it's a lot cooler this week.
What a pretty flower, a new one for me, I had to look it up. I am not sure if it is suitable for UK climate though, perhaps why I don't know it :-)
