Good to see everything nice and green. Had heard horror stories about the weather last year. I grow Ipomopsis rubra here in Ontario - think my hummers and monarchs have come to expect their blossoms.
The stories you heard were not exaggerated, Barbarapc. Last year the drought was terrible and ANWR was mostly brown grass in May, but this year, we have had plentiful rain (so far) and it has made all the difference. We've had a wonderful wildflower season.
We get those pink poofy flowers out here too! Do the leaves retract when you touch them? One variety here does, but not all. The type with leaves that move and don't move look just the same though otherwise.
I think the pink poofy flowers are called sensitive briar and, yes, the leaves do retract when you touch them, Gale. Such pretty little flowers and there were lots of them at the wildlife refuge when we visited last week.
